A true Island girl

Krissy was born at the Gower Memorial Hospital on Lord Howe Island on the 6th of February, 1977, a true island girl from the outset. She was the fourth child of Bruce (Gilly) and Carol.

Krissy passed to her rest on the 2nd of March, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. She will be greatly missed by her many families and friends here on Lord Howe Island and in Port Douglas, Mossman Gorge, and rural Victoria, Metung and Lakes Entrance – all places she lived for many years.

Her family, two sons Chase and Arlo, their father Damian, her father Bruce, her brothers Mark, Grant, Jono, sisters Maritha, Leilani and Losalini and her stepmother Tokasa Thompson all sincerely extend their gratitude to the island family and community, many friends near and far for all the support, encouragement, and prayers during this very difficult time.

Krissy was laid to rest in the Thompson Family Cemetery on the 14th of March. Krissy’s life is one we should all aspire to live. It was filled with endless love and laughter, selflessness and friendship, compassion, and kindness. She wore a smile that brightened and warmed the heart. She was a free spirit who enriched the lives of all she touched. Krissy fought with a tireless passion for what she believed in and fought her final battle with more bravado than any superhero. Her light was put out too soon, but the glow it created will forever bring comfort to all who knew her, just like the glow of a beloved Lord Howe sunset..
