The Lord Howe Island Signal is a community newspaper established in 1954 by Jim Whistler and Trevor Nixon. It was hand-typed and reproduced on an ink and spirit press. Barney Nichols ran The Signal until 2014 when Stephen Sia then took over its operation. The Lord Howe Island Signal historical collection is held at The Lord Howe Island Museum and includes many newspaper and magazine clippings relating to Lord Howe Island.
