Autumn is upon us and will hopefully bring more rain to fill up our tanks, and lead to cooler surrounding oceans and more fish on our tables. Lately, it has been very hard for our fishermen as the warmer 27C + waters in the north Tasman have reduced our kingfish catch with fish migrating south into cooler waters.
This month we sadly farewell Krissy Thompson and Jean Roche who both succumbed to cancer. Our sincere condolences go to all the families involved.
The Island is a sanctuary for all who live here permanently, but we also open our doors to many seasonal workers and visitors. Although our feelings and views are not always the same, we try to present this wonderful lsland as the special place we call “home” – not just another tourist attraction! Respect is the key value in the fragile relationship between people and place… in fact, in all our relationships.
Looking at the great many catastrophic conflicts around the world it is perfectly clear that, without mutual respect, we have no positive future to share this Island…or any other place on the planet.
