Winter is upon us, and the local tourist season is coming to an end. Businesses are closing down for the season and many of us are going away for a well-deserved break.
After many years of residing on Lord Howe I have learnt to live a balanced lifestyle.
You cannot have too much of everything! Life is about enjoying what you have and sharing it with others. It was great to see the “Potato in the Paddock” evening reported in the Signal…so many milestones celebrated in one friendly gathering.
Well done to the organisers and all those who came together to make this event!
The stoicism and generosity of the older generation on the Island is also something from which the younger generation can learn. As I sat down with the seniors for their morning tea on Thursday morning, the days of old brought back many memories of both love and hardship. However, it is also clear that those friendships built on the Island can last a lifetime.
