Wildlife Photographer of the Year

Lord Howe Island resident, Justin Gilligan, has been honoured in this year’s prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition at the Natural History Museum in London.

Justin Gilligan’s photo A Diet of Deadly Plastic was awarded winner of Oceans – The Bigger Picture.

For Photographer, Cinematographer and Competition Judge Luciano Candisani, “photography is one of the most important tools for the most important message of all time – humanity needs to find a new way of relating to the planet. In this photograph, with creativity and a sense of composition, the photographer managed to achieve this universal theme. The image is touching and powerfully questions us about ourselves.”

Congratulations Justin!

NSW Tourism Awards

The NSW Tourism Awards, 2024, finalists have just been announced and we’re thrilled to share with you that two Lord Howe Island businesses have made the list this year: Dive Lord Howe and Love Lord Howe.

The NSW Tourism Awards represent the pinnacle of recognition in the state’s tourism sector and serves as the only pathway for NSW businesses to compete at the national level through the Australian Tourism Awards. This year, the award ceremony will be hosted by The NSW Tourism Association and the winners will be announced at the 2024 NSW Tourism Gala in November in Sydney.

The best of luck and congratulations to Dive Lord Howe and Love Lord Howe!
