The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW recently awarded Lord Howe Island Distilling Co. Champion of category with the Wolfe Rock Navy Strength Gin.
The Wolfe Rock Navy Strength Gin is described as not for the faint-hearted! It pays testament to the shipwreck of the ex-Navy Gun Brig Wolf, which lost 1,700 barrels of Sperm whale oil to the bottom of the ocean after running aground on an unchartered rock off Blinky Beach. Discover more gins here.

The ABC followed Senior Constable Joel Merchant on duty as the only police officer on remote Lord Howe Island. Since February 2023, he has handled a wide range of duties, from responding to emergencies like a tsunami warning to managing routine police work. Despite the challenges of solo policing, Joel enjoys the island’s tight-knit community and natural beauty. His family has embraced island life, appreciating the safety and outdoor lifestyle it offers, especially for their young son.
