Is a self-sustaining Christian music and media ministry led by Rob and Kimberly Houlston. Abide produces a variety of music and media content that is broadcast on numerous Christian TV networks worldwide. They specialize in creating puppet-based programs, including Arnie’s Shack, The Kings Kids, Bible Buddies, and The Rescue.
The Abide team has travelled extensively, producing content in locations such as Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, and Peru. These journeys have allowed them to connect with and mentor many individuals. They have also organized training workshops, worship sessions, concerts, and other events across various Pacific Island nations. Through these experiences, the team has gained a deep understanding of the unique needs in the Pacific region and has worked closely with local communities to provide essential skills and resources.
Background
Rob Houlston spent 34 years working as a Fitter and Turner before taking voluntary redundancy in 2013. This decision allowed him the time and financial resources to build a film and sound studio. Rob now focuses on constructing sets and performing the majority of the puppetry, giving voice to characters like Arnie, Shane, Ranger Hardy, and many others. He continues to work part-time as a Fitter and Turner to support their ministry.
Kimberly Houlston holds a Master’s degree in Special Education and has previously worked as a Learning and Support Teacher. In 2020, she transitioned from full-time teaching to dedicate herself entirely to the studio. Kimberly is self-taught in video editing, audio engineering, filming, and other aspects of production. She writes all the songs and scripts, records vocals, edits videos, films, and produces all the Arnie’s Shack, King’s Kids, Bible Buddies, and The Rescue programs.
Troy Livah is an Arts graduate of Avondale University and is a video producer with over 20 years of experience. He has created hundreds of Christian and corporate videos for diverse clients, including gospel artists and educational institutions. In recent years, he has worked on the “Kings Kids Series,” “The Rescue,” and “Bible Buddies.” Troy is married to Sophie, and they have two children, Ella and Zayne, who also contribute as actors and voice actors for these projects.
Sophie Livah, a dedicated educator with a Teaching Degree from Avondale University, started her career as an early childhood teacher and now teaches Year 4. She has been actively involved with the Arnie Shack team, contributing to various initiatives. Outside the classroom, Sophie enjoys organizing and participating in children’s activities, reflecting her deep commitment to their development.
Jonathan Christian brings decades of experience in puppetry, children’s ministry, and Kid’s Clubs. In 2020, he became an integral part of the Abide puppetry team, contributing to the production of The King’s Kids.
Daron Pratt is a specialist in Children and Family Ministry and a balloon-twisting extraordinaire. For over 20 years, he has been known as “The Balloon Man,” captivating children with balloon creations and storytelling alongside Arnie in the “Balloon Kaboom” segment.
Abide produces all of its programming on-site, utilizing a fully equipped vocal recording booth, film and sound studio, control room, and video editing suite.
