I have met a great many people either on the Island or during my travels and I must say that 99% of them desire to live simple, humble lives working at their jobs and enjoying the company of family and friends in their spare time.
However, a very small percentage of people (maybe 1%?) have jobs that involve making major decisions for the rest of us. They can be our politicians, business owners or managers – even our parents.
They have big responsibilities because many of the situations we hear about in the world – good and bad – are created by the one percent. History will tell eventually tell us whether or not they have made the best decision.
In August, we have two government ministers visiting the Island for the Lord Howe Island Board meeting and they will be making decisions which will have a lasting impact on the future of our Island. We hope they will make the right decisions for all of us!
